We have organised these issues into seven strategic pillars. These pillars represent the core areas that will drive our collective progress, shape our long-term vision, and ensure that every community, every family, and every individual has a path to prosper.
A people who have not defined themselves cannot know where or how to move forward. The first pillar of our work is identity, narrative, and ethics. We will define who we are and what we say about ourselves to the world by correcting limiting beliefs and entrenching our values of hard work, community, commitment, and shared grit.
We will also define what we want as a collective, design pathways for achieving it, and clarify the role everyone must play, from the greatest among us to the smallest. We will build a constituency where honest work is valued, where community matters, and where integrity stands at the centre.
A key part of this work is the Apa-Agu House, a socio-cultural museum that will house our past, showcase our present, and chart a path for our future. It will answer the questions: - Who are we? - What do we believe in? - What is our work ethic? - What is our collective vision?
Security has been one of the greatest challenges faced in Apa–Agatu whether from herders taking over our lands, communities in conflict, or pockets of crime within our society. These challenges have stalled our growth and development. Solving insecurity demands a communal approach. Our strategy focuses on harnessing the people and structures we already have, setting a clear roadmap for results, and working with all key stakeholders to secure our land for growth and prosperity
Leadership is one of our most pressing challenges and requires a holistic approach, one that harnesses everyone’s strength, fosters collaboration, and drives meaningful growth. We are moving from individualistic leadership to collaborative leadership.
Leaders must no longer stand alone, seek results alone, or be celebrated alone. If we want real progress, we must decenter ourselves and centre the people. We will build a structured leadership architecture that harnesses everyone, holds everyone accountable, and develops a pipeline of emerging leaders. Elders will transfer knowledge and wisdom to the younger generation.
We will invest heavily in education formal, informal, non-formal, and technical to advance our people. This includes scholarships, building career pipelines, technical education that leads to jobs, non-formal education that strengthens culture, and informal education that builds skills for agriculture and the marketplace. We will also equip and train teachers to drive competitive, modern education.
Jobs give dignity. Prosperity requires putting resources into people’s hands. Our goal is to create jobs formal and informal support SMEs, expand opportunities in technology, and develop industries powered by education. We will educate our people for jobs in various marketplaces, increasing the amount of money circulating in Apa–Agatu.
Agriculture has always been the backbone of our people. We produce enough food for ourselves and others. But insecurity, poor access to inputs, and limited market opportunities have weakened our capacity. We will invest in agricultural education, provide necessary inputs, support farmers, and ensure markets are accessible and profitable.
We will build and renovate schools, roads, and hospitals; connect communities through mobile networks and internet; and construct roads that open access to new markets. Infrastructure is the backbone of development and the bridge to opportunity.
